How it works
Test day, hour by hour
One person on the test, one person to answer your questions.
It takes a morning, and you are welcome to follow along. We explain what each reading means as we go, so the report holds no surprises.
The morning
We walk the house and photograph the attic hatch, basement ceiling and chimney chases
A combustion safety check on every fuel-burning appliance, before any fan runs
The fan goes into an exterior door and the house is pulled to a steady pressure
We take the leakage reading, then walk every room with the smoke pencil
A thermal camera joins in on cold days
We tell you what to expect in the report and when

From call to finish
The whole job, step by step
- 01Day 0
Step 1: You call or text
We ask about the house, the heat and what is bothering you, and tell you what to have ready.
- 02Day one
Step 2: The test
The morning above. You see the leaks as we find them.
- 03About a week later
Step 3: The report
Written, with photos, in plain words. We read it with you by phone or in person.
- 04After the report
Step 4: The estimate
A separate document, with each line tied to the report and exclusions written out.
- 05When you say yes
Step 5: Scheduling
We schedule the work around the season and the other jobs in the book. We tell you when.
- 06Your schedule
Step 6: The work
The crew works in the order the report ranks. One lead stays on the house.
- 07Last day
Step 7: The second test
The same test, run the same way. You see both numbers.
Week one
What the first week of work looks like
Who comes
The lead you've met, and one or two people from the crew. The same people each day.
What we protect
Floors under drop cloths, a clear path in and out, and the attic hatch covered when we leave.
What we shut off
Never the heat in winter without telling you first. Recessed lights and fans are tagged so we know where they are.
What you do
Keep pets and children away from the work area. Leave the attic and basement clear.
Book your test day
